WVS Hope is a registered charity in Ranchi, Jharkhand and we exist to ensure no animal suffers. Care for a sick dog and you save a life, and we do, across India, every single day. But train a vet and you protect thousands of lives for decades to come. Every vet who leaves our training centre carries the skill to end suffering wherever their career takes them, in clinics, in villages, in places we will never see. Help an animal and you change its day. Train a vet and you change everything that vet will ever touch. That multiplication is the heart of WVS Hope, because animal suffering ends when veterinary care begins.
And in India, one disease stands in the way of everything. Rabies kills people, and the fear of it decides how street dogs are treated, chased off, rounded up, driven out, sometimes killed. So we step in. Together with our international partners we have helped develop and prove a better way to beat rabies, vaccinate the dogs themselves. It saves human lives. It eliminates the disease at its source rather than treating bite after bite, and it costs far less. And it saves thousands of dogs too, because a vaccinated dog is no longer something to fear, it is simply a neighbour. Where this approach has been sustained, whole districts have become rabies free, and communities have learned to live alongside their dogs rather than against them.
